Caleb Eating

I was attempting to feed Caleb tonight and he really got into it. He really likes chicken with gravy! He started smacking his lips and I realized I had to get it on video, this was the most he has eaten yet. I am so proud of him. Slow and steady wins the race! I also started giving him a sippy cup. He has not really drank a lot from it but he doesn't mind it being in his mouth and he does suck on it a little bit. On Friday when the feeding therapist came by to see us she said based on what she was seeing that day that Caleb should start eating normally in a few months. I asked if by his birthday was a reasonable date to aim for and she said she didn't think it would be that long! I am so so so happy!

Caleb is learning very quickly, he is such a stinker he keeps pulling his MicKEY extension piece off..

Since he has started teething he keeps gagging himself with his fingers because he loves chewing on them, forget the teething rings!

We are almost home so I am so very happy!

Enjoys the video!

Quick Update

So Mr. Man had his first bottle today and he did so so so very well... He drank about 10ccs, which was so great and amazing to watch. He was all smiles as everyone wonders why it is he doesn't have an oral aversion, I can only say thank you to the CHKD feeding team! He also ate some apple sauce and 1/8th of oz over 3 feeds which was just as fantastic as the bottle!

We also got some wonderful news that we will be home very soon. After Caleb's next dilation we will be released. We will have to stick around for a couple of days but we should be back at home sometime during the week of the 18th!

Caleb is doing awesome, though he is have some stranger anxiety, it is hard as he will not let anyone touch him or hold him, its a good thing I got to move in to his room at the hospital!

Our friend Gracen finally got his esophagus! YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE Go Gracen! We are so very happy for his family, I thought we have been doing this for a long time but they have been doing this for almost 11 months. I hope they get to go home soon!

Always,

Ernestine and Caleb

Happy New Year!

Caleb Had a good New Years. He got to eat his first bite ever with his mouth! He had three bites of baby cereal. We're so exited and proud of him. He's come so far so quickly. It feels like a long time but he's pushing to meet his goals and learn everything a baby is supposed to know at 6 months. He slept through the ball drop, but hey he's only 6 months who can stay up so late so young? It's also snowing again here in Boston. Here are a video of his first bites, snow and a couple pictures:
